Kaspersky Internet Security 7

  • Well some feedback as requested. I thought the software review was good. You went around all the important aspects of the application and what they all do. As well as some of the more paranoid aspects of the app. I feel that this is the most noticable part of the app compared to others.

The amount of permission you have to give the app at the start is quite outstanding (every time you start up an application - yes even Internet Explorer). In the begining games and applications froze, this was Kaspersky waiting behind the application for me to allow it, give it registry access, read/write, trusted or just allow etc.

Agressive in the start is an understatement. :D but good to see you drew the readers attention to this point.

Think this might be a little over the novice users, and could be how a virus or adware sneaks in. Users just in the habbit of allowing stuff. Thus, I think it is worth pointing out that the app is directed more towards the advanced users, at least in my opinion.

Then again you cannot give an application a negative point, just because it is not idiot proof ;)

Personally i am a pretty paranoid user, and like to know exactly what is going on, so this application is great for me.

I realise that it is all own hardware and software that is used, but have you ever used any other commercial software such as Mcafee or Norton? If you have then it could be worth mentioning. More importantly, how your user experience changed from one to the other (if it did at all); how you feel your system runs with each. You did list the use of the system resources as a positive after all.

I do not use the Internet version, I use the straight forward Kaspersky av program. Unfortunately i do not have any hard data on the system resources used in the Kaspersky Vs Norton, but it seems much less of a resource hog than Norton to me.

In short good well rounded article, just missed the comparison of user experience between its competitors.

A tip for the users, prospective buyers:

When i bought mine (maybe 8 months ago) i looked at the Danish version and how much it cost. Then looked on the .co.uk site and it was so much cheaper on the English site (approx 200 dkk cheaper). Ok, so there was an offer at the time but still could be worth looking into these things, if you dont care about DK or English versions.

Shipping costs, well it is direct download and if you want to pay extra for the CD, which i did, they send it in a small disk sized envelope - so no big box to add to the cost.

  • Yay! Some feedback :9xo This review is my first software review as mentioned before so I didn't know if I was doing it right or not, but you seem to think it's ok :)

About the comparison of commercial products. I've personally always used free software like AVG and Avast (which I mention in the review) so comparing Kaspersky to Norton etc. wasn't possible, even though I do have my thoughts about Norton (but seing as I haven't tried it on my own machine I felt it wasn't relevant to include in the review).

But glad you pointed that out :)
