Mange tak for alle Jeres gode ide'er.

    Hey
I have bought a new Samsung 250 GB SATA-3 (HD250HJ) harddrive, for my MD8383XL because the original harddrive (Western Digital WD2500 250 Gb SATA) is dead.

When I have install the Samsung Harddrive in my computer, I power on and check the bios. Here it look's fine, bios has detected the samsung drive.
My problem begins, when i tried to install Windows XP Home SP2 (the windows disc there came with the MD8383XL). It's very slow when it boots/load from the installation cd (I have clean the media ), and when it's comes to than point in the installation, where you select where you'll install windows and make partitions, there is no harddrive to select.
    Hope someone can help.

I have check the Harddrive, with a tool on a floppydisk from Samsung called "Hutil", and it says that the harddrive has no problem.

    thank you in advance.

Hey, seems like you're the 3rd forummember in a short time with this problem.
I think you should have a look at these:

A lot of reading for you, but probably worth your while.
    Report back?

Thanks for your advise, but I can't get it to work

I think I found out what my problem is.
On the old original western Digital harddrive, there was a jumper to disable SSC (Spread Spectrum Clocking)

On the new Samsung there is no jumper for this. On Samsung's homepage i found some help, I have to do it in the BIOS: (http://www.samsung.com/global/…bbs_msg_id=125&orderNum=3)

But in the BIOS I can't find anything about SSC, is there any one there now how to do this, in the BIOS on a Medion MD 8383 XL. I have the newest bios from medion's homepage (bio7091 version: 3.14 from 25-05-2005).

    thank in advance.
